This was begun by H.J. Richmond [and D.J.Hogarth ], 1882, father of William Richmond, 1878- 1945. See obituary "Colac Reformer" , 24 July 1945.

William Richmond driving car past the door to "Colac Reformer" newspaper printing office where Mollie Richmond stands. This was rebuilt after being burnt out 1931. Fires were a constant hazrd in printing presses back when red-hot furnaces were used to melt the lead that formed the letters to be used to print the newspaper.

The Chinese Gardens based on the Imperial Palace in Beijing, includes a Buddhist Temple, the Guan Yin Miao - Temple of The Goddess of Mercy. Inside the temple is a statue of Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy who holds a fly - whisk a symbol of authority and a pearl a symbol of purity and knowledge. Golden Dragon Museum : the dragon -Sun Loong - is believed to be the world's oldest surviving imperial Chinese dragon in the world. It is over 110 years old and the longest - over 100 metres. At the river end of Palm Avenue and in front of the Chaffey's House the Murray river bank was close . There was a mostly sunken old paddle wheeler with its name on the bow showing Gem. That fascinated me as a kid c 1946. It has been repaired - massively - and I think it is at Echuca or Swan Hill.
