NSW Wentworth Jail Saltbush Darling meets the Murray

Historical Architecture in Eaglehawk and Bendigo Gold mine town

Eaglehawk buildings have very spectacular polychrome brickwork with unusual patterns and specially moulded bricks. Whilst there is much nineteenth century polychrome brickwork throughout the state of Victoria, some of these designs are not reproduced elsewhere in the state. This was on the way home when we saw the sun too! Gold mine poppet head Bendigo Assay house just behind the bank to weigh the gold c1862

Mildura Wentworth Inglewood Bendigo Eaglehawk

At the river end of Palm Avenue and in front of the Chaffey's House the Murray river bank was close . There was a mostly sunken old paddle wheeler with its name on the bow showing Gem. That fascinated me as a kid c 1946. It has been repaired - massively - and I think it is at Echuca or Swan Hill.
